Rigora
The LMS built for elite 1-on-1 science tutors

The platform that thinks in equations.

Rigora is a purpose-built LMS for independent tutors teaching high-rigor science and mathematics — JEE, NEET, AP Physics, IAT — to global students, one session at a time.

The Problem

Elite tutors are running their practice on duct tape

The best science and mathematics tutors in the world — those preparing students for JEE Advanced, NEET-UG, AP Physics C, and IISER IAT — operate at a calibre far above typical tutoring. Their sessions involve complex derivations, multi-step problem solving, and rigorous conceptual scaffolding that demands professional tools.

Instead, they are stitching together Zoom, WhatsApp groups, Google Drive folders, random PDF editors, and hand-built spreadsheets. No tool in the market speaks their language. None render LaTeX. None understand negative marking. None track conceptual gaps across 40 sessions.

“Every tutor at this level has the same setup: Zoom for the call, WhatsApp for homework, Google Docs for notes, and a spreadsheet they've already outgrown. Nobody has built them a real product.”

No LaTeX support
Every existing LMS renders questions as plain text. Physics and maths at this level live in equations, integrals, vector notation, circuit diagrams.
🌏
Global timezone chaos
A tutor in India teaching a student in California needs sessions displayed in two timezones simultaneously. Tutors manage it by mental arithmetic.
📋
Zero student memory
After 30 sessions, a tutor holds every student's conceptual gaps and learning arcs entirely in their head. One missed note and continuity breaks.
📝
Test building is manual
JEE-style tests have MCQ with −1 negative marking, numerical answer type, and FRQ. No quiz builder anywhere supports this structure.
The Solution

Rigora — an LMS that speaks the language of physics

Rigora is a full-stack tutoring platform built from the ground up for high-rigor 1-on-1 science and mathematics instruction. Every design decision was made with one question in mind: what does a world-class physics tutor actually need?

The result is a system that renders LaTeX natively, tracks student memory across every session, manages global timezones per student, and lets a tutor build a JEE-format test with negative marking in minutes.

Core Feature
LaTeX Test Builder
Write questions in LaTeX, rendered live. MCQ, Numerical Answer, and FRQ types with configurable positive and negative marking, built for JEE/NEET structure.
Core Feature
Student CRM
Every student gets a profile: target exam, conceptual gaps, syllabus progress, and a full session history with notes — the tutor's memory, persisted.
Core Feature
Timezone-Aware Dashboard
Today's sessions shown in the tutor's time and each student's local time in parallel. Join links surface exactly when a session begins.
Core Feature
Homework Portal
Students submit PDFs directly. A grading queue shows pending submissions with one-click access; feedback is written in the platform.
Core Feature
Role-Based Access
Tutor sees everything. Students see only their own dashboard, session history, progress, and submission portal.
Coming Soon
Automated Session Logs
Log topics taught, homework assigned, and next-session focus in 60 seconds. The platform builds the archive automatically.
Market Opportunity

A massive, underserved global market

The JEE Advanced exam alone sees 1.8 million applicants per year competing for around 17,000 seats. NEET-UG has 2.2 million applicants. AP Physics C is taken by over 100,000 students globally. IISER IAT, the British A-Level, and IB Physics HL add hundreds of thousands more.

Behind each of these students is, in many cases, a private tutor operating a serious practice with no professional infrastructure. This is the customer Rigora is built for.

At ₹999/month, capturing 5,000 tutors — 10% of the addressable market — generates ₹6 Crore ARR. That is the conservative case.

Competitive Landscape

Nobody else is building for this exact customer

Moodle technically supports LaTeX via a plugin, but requires a server administrator and infrastructure most independent tutors cannot manage. Rigora is the only platform where LaTeX, negative marking, student CRM, and timezone-aware scheduling come assembled, hosted, and ready to use in 10 minutes.

Pricing Model

Simple, predictable subscription pricing

Rigora charges tutors a monthly subscription based on how many students they manage. No per-session fees, no student charges, no commission. The tutor owns their relationship with their students entirely.

International pricing mirrors the tier structure at $12 / $24 / $59 USD — deliberately below TutorBird ($29) and Teachworks ($34). A 14-day free trial with no credit card required lowers the activation barrier to zero.

Build Roadmap

Personal tool first. Then a product. Then a business.

The fastest way to build the right product is to be its first and most demanding user. Rigora is being built by a working JEE/AP Physics tutor for their own practice — every feature is validated in a real session before it's offered to anyone else.

Technology

Built on infrastructure that scales without a DevOps team

Rigora is built on Next.js (App Router) with Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage. LaTeX rendering uses KaTeX — the same engine used by Khan Academy and Wikipedia. Frontend on Vercel; database on Supabase's managed Postgres. Infrastructure cost at launch: effectively zero. At 500 users: approximately $50/month.

This is not a technical project waiting for a technical co-founder. It is a product being built with available tools, by someone who knows the customer, for a specific, solvable problem.
